Just as a scoop of ice-cream melts in the mouth, every great French toast should give you a melt-in-the-mouth feeling and deserves to taste the yummiest it can be. Personally, I like to be very gentle when making French toast, and I’ve noticed that being gentle during the process reflects after my French toast has been made. Continue reading to find out the important measures you might want to take when making French toast.

You will need:

  • A milky loaf of bread (It is very important you consider the kind of bread you use, so you get an airy, thick and fresh toast texture. A challah or brioche bread are also right choices.)If you are familiar with the famous Nigerian Agege bread, I’d advice you make use of that if you can’t get a milk bread.
  • 2 cups of milk. (I always mix a cup of heavy cream milk with a cup of coconut milk. I believe it gives the toast fresh taste)
  • 2 large eggs.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder.
  • Salt to taste (I never miss adding a pinch of salt just because it highlights the presence of the other ingredients in the toast.)
  • Honey
  • 1 cup of cream cheese.
  • Butter.
  • Fresh fruits (A mixture of blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. A bite of French toast with fruits gives a burst of flavor in the mouth).

STEP 1: First, slice your bread loaf into thick slices of about 3 inches per slice

Step 2: In a bowl, pour milk, crack eggs, add flavor, cinnamon powder and a pinch of salt to taste. Whisk all to combine till homogenously mixed.

Step 3: Place a pan over medium heat, place a small square of butter in pan to grease or spray pan with a cooking oil spray.

Step 4: Place already sliced bread into the milk mixture and turn sides to ensure both sides of the bread absorbs the mixture. (Do not leave bread in the liquid for long as this can crumble the bread in the liquid, and make it difficult to pick up).

Step 5: Gently pick up the bread slice from the liquid using a flat silicon spoon and place on the hot pan.

Step 6: Toast and flip both sides till golden brown.

Step 7: Cut fresh fruits into desired shapes or leave whole.

Step 8: Place fruits in honey/syrup for a minute or two. Preferably, I like to place my honey and fruits mixture in a micro wave for not more than 30 seconds. I believe this helps the fruits infuse the honey faster and gives the fruits a more intense burst of flavors when bitten.

Step 9: Assemble! Place French toasts on to each other, just a hierarchy of rocks. Scoop a spoon of silky textured cream cheese on the toast. Using a spoon, place the honey infused fruits on the toast and drizzle some more syrup or honey over the toast.; and there you have it. A melt-in-the-mouth loaded French toast.
