Cinnamon Spiced Orange Syrup

Syrups without a doubt, are one of the best innovations for baked goods, and it is for sure that no one wants a dry piece of pastry. You might want to “breathe freshness” into a piece of cake or pastry that might have been kept in your refrigerator for days, then this is your go-to hack. On this one, with all emphasis on the spice and flavor this syrup gives to pastries, you will want to kiss stale pastries goodbye, hun.

You will need:

  • 1/2 a cup of white crystal sugar
  • 1 orange
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 a cup of orange juice
  • 1/4 of cinnamon powder
  • 1 cinnamon stick

You’ve gotten all your ingredients ready, now let’s get into ittttttt:

  • Gently peel the zest of the orange & cut into tiny slices. Keep aside.
  • Place a small sized pot over a stove, pour in your water and orange juice and stir for a minute.
  • Add sugar, orange zest slices, cinnamon powder & sticks into the liquid mixture. Simmer over low heat for 8-10 minutes.
  • Stir mixture and make sure sugar has completely dissolved, leaving the syrup moderately runny.
  • Serve warm. Brush/pour syrup over baked pastry and garnish with orange zest and cinnamon sticks however you choose to.

Talk about the warm and fresh aroma filling your kitchen! Talk about a syrup that will revive a piece of cake, bread or any pastry even! The best part, syrup can last fresh in a refrigerator for up to two weeks. Such an innovation right?
